March 4th – 8th, our president of Iceland, dr. Guðni Th. Jóhannesson went on a historical visit to Georgia.
Iceland Renewable Energy Cluster was a proud partner of the business delegation visiting this beautiful country which is rich in natural resources, culture, and delicatessen.

Along with the president, was the minister of environmental, energy and climate, Mr. Guðáugur Þór Þórðarson.

The visit aimed to strengthen the collaboration between the public and private sectors in the field of renewable energy and to learn about opportunities in renewable energy like geothermal, and hydropower and investments in actions to enhance the energy transmission together.

Highlights of our participation:

* A business Round table : was hosted by the Georgian minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili. Our minister of environmental, energy, and climate, Mr. Guðlaugur Þór led the discussions and our president addressed the delegations of the countries.

*** Visit to the power plant: ** The delegation visited the region Samtskhe–Javakheti where we went to the the power plant Akhalkalaki. The plant is partly in the ownership of our members Verkis Consulting and Landsvirkjun Power, the daughter company of the National power company Landsvirkjun. This Power plant has been running since November 2022.

* The Icelandic delegation visit two companies in Tbilisi, that are working with Icelandic companies; CreditInfo in Georgia which was founded by Creditinfo Iceland, and Cerberus Frontier, a local collaborator of our national power company  Landsvirkjun

* Participants of delegation**:** Our ministry Umhverfis-, orku- og loftslagsráðuneytið; Landsvirkjun Verkís Consulting Engineers ÍSOR - Iceland GeoSurvey  MAR Advisors Hafþórsstadir, Infrastructure Investments Creditinfo Group, Green by Iceland.
